" The Gift "...
" The Gift "
by Suzán Jiván
Mom & Mom-

The gift
of gab
all the fun
at the fair
what's good
for the goose
is good
for the gander
being taken
for granted
as a snake
in the grass
when meeting
one's match
in a horror tale
with tongues
wagging
atypically daring
coming too close to call
yet growing ever stronger
pure coincidences of course
like re-appropriated self-portraits
elaborately formed by a weeping audience
both heart-warming and remarkable
as sweet spots in between shallowness
and overthink feigning spontaneity
like gray-haired strangers
featuring dead-pan sayings
as pure entertainment
as old as "The Ancients"
after taking many
commercial breaks
while gadgets
are tested and rated
driven to inhumane behavior
by flesh-and-blood creators
launching search-and-rescue operations
administering first aid for military-grade road rage
found to be mislabeled understandably fascinated
by severely degraded "Rich and Famous"
subjected to sweeping changes
at the early stages of abject innovation
via living up to one's reputation
of getting one's own way...
