The magic of art--how did it start?
markings on overhanging rocks
as far from the entrance as possible
spears and darts impossible to disregard
like clues of origins on hand-sized carvings
within rectangular compartments
of inner logic's frozen qualities
Supreme Dieties far heavier than need be
overwing orthodoxy staggering in low relief
onrushing air offering wealths of detail
within sweeping grandeurs for legitimate heirs
modeled in plaster as overly attractive personalities
antimonumental in comparison toward depravity
U-shaped paths funereal chapels strangely abstract
octagonal plans of three-dimensionality
golden backgrounds garnets enamels
conveying magesty semicircular apses
untouched by agony seeming to stand
rather than overhang nave arcades
half subterranean bits of vegetation
passing blame manuscript paintings
architectural frames poignant illumination
alter space vaulted naves greater overall length
thrust and weight lay population...
